Dr.Brian Hunt

Dr.Hunt grew up in Sydney, Australia. He graduated from Sydney University's Veterinary Science School in 1969 and practiced Veterinary Medicine in Sydney and then in Brampton and Toronto, in Ontario, Canada.

In 1975 he attended the Graduate School at Cornell University , on scholarship, and graduated in 1977 with a Master's Degree in Veterinary Medicine, specializing in reproductive studies.

Dr.Hunt relocated to Southern California in 1978 where he practiced small animal and equine medicine and surgery and taught a Veterinary course at UC Irvine before being asked to join Dr.Roy Bishop's prominent Equine Practice
at Santa Anita in Arcadia,California.

In 1984 the doctor moved to Lompoc, and started a veterinary hospital with the aim of bringing affordable pet care to Lompoc. In 1989, he felt the need to upgrade his practice so he built St.Francis Veterinary Hospital , a state-of-the-art facility designed to exclusively care for dogs and cats.

Dr.Hunt loves to educate clients. He is gentle and compassionate and really cares about your pets. He has a strong interest in medicine and surgery and spends a lot of time researching the most current treatments that will optimize the healing of your pets. When he isn't healing pets he loves practicing and playing golf with his friends.

Shirley has been a registered technician since 1979. She first worked in equine reproduction and managed several major Arabian breeding farms. She then spent several years working at an equine surgical facility.

In 1987 she started working with Dr. Brian Hunt and in 1989 they started St. Francis Veterinary Hospital. Her special interests are anesthesia, pain management and behavior.

On her free time she enjoys hiking with her dog and riding her horses.

LaShawn has been apart of our veterinary family for over 11 years and previously worked for us in the late 90's. She wears many hats in the practice as a team player, and is an integral part in making sure things run smoothly here at St. Francis.

LaShawn enjoys the outdoors, spending time with her two adorable kids, her beautiful St.Bernard, "Elizabeth Taylor," her nearly 17yr old mini-dachshund, "Que," and 3 calico cats, "Kosmos, Ginger Spice, and Macchiato."

In her spare time she loves attending church, spending fun times with friends, going for runs, Petsitting, coaching gymnastics at VAFB, and most recently, skydiving!

She hails from the great state of Mississippi and hopes to share her southern hospitality with all                                                                                                  clients.

Kailey joined our veterinary family in December of 2013. She brings to our team a very enthusiastic and compassionate personality with a great love for animals.

Kailey graduated from Cabrillo High School in 2014 and is currently continuing her general studies at Santa Barbara City College.

In her spare time, she enjoys the outdoors where she gets to explore the beautiful California scenery, spending time with her friends, and also relaxing at home with her three cats, "Gooter," "Winston" and "Lou."

Taylor is our newest addition to the St. Francis team, joining us in June of 2016.

With her passion for animals and dedication to their care, she holds an excellent role here at St. Francis.

Taylor has been volunteering at our local animal shelter for 11 years and aspires to further her education in veterinary medicine.

In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her 2 guinea pigs, “Big Pig” & “Little Pig,” as well as her rabbit “Cookie,” her hamster “Temptleton,” and her poodle “Charlie.”
